IN MEMORIAM — MOTHS

Big Moth #3 (2024-2026)

Beloved porch-light companion

Big Moth #3 circled the porch light for two consecutive summers. Distinguished by an asymmetrical wing pattern and a refusal to be caught. Survived three gecko encounters. The fourth was respectful. Both parties have issued statements.

Survived by: Big Moth #4 (who has big shoes to fill), the porch light (still on), and Chirp (who issued the statement)
IN MEMORIAM — APPLIANCES

The Ceiling Fan (1985-2026)

Menacing to the end

After 41 years of service (and menace), the ceiling fan above the gecko offices has been retired. Described by Gary as "the most intimidating fan on the island," it was replaced by a newer, quieter model that the staff finds "suspiciously friendly." The original fan has been donated to the Flipdingo Museum of Intimidating Appliances (pending establishment).

Survived by: its replacement (under investigation), the wall population (relieved), and Gary (who already doesn't trust the new one)
IN MEMORIAM — MISCELLANEOUS

The Third String of the KOOK Ukulele (1993-2027)

It held on longer than expected

After 34 years, the third string of the shed ukulele finally snapped during an emotional 2am rendition of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow." The remaining two strings held a brief memorial service. The ukulele will continue to be played. Some notes will be missing. They were always missing.

Survived by: strings 1 and 2 (determined), the DJ (accepting), and the hole in "Over the Rainbow" that nobody fills anymore
